Analysing Fashion/Regional double page spread

This is from 24/7 magazine, which is aimed at 16-25 females and males, so has a similar target audience to my own.

for the layout, It uses one big image as the background and you can clearly see the image is taken with a fish eye camera. This would mainly appeal to an audience who likes bmx. The mast head says 'action sport' so you can clearly see what the page is about. This page follows conventions which makes it look professional. The left part of the background is black, so the white writing in the background stands out against it and they have made the subheading bolder so you can tell the difference between text and subheading.

The colour pallet is mainly white, black and blue which follows the conventions of the magazine making it all link in together. Blue represents, trust, intelligence and loyalty. this could of been to represent the audience showing that you can trust the magazine and you aren't making it up.

There is only one image on this page and that is the image thats in the background. Its an image of a young male on his bike in an indoor skate park. This image might possibly link to gammon and marshments 1988 theory of "men can be seen as objects of desire too" due to the female audience might be attracted to this male and read the article even if they're not interested in bmx.

In terms of the right vocabulary they use his nick name 'matti' and not 'mathew' so it fits to the audience, and it shows its not formal and you're his mate more than your just reading about him.

This is a double page spread for vogue magazine which is mostly aimed at a female audience. for the layout there is one main image of who the double page spread is about, also three smaller images going down the side of the right hand side of the same person. the images are all studio shots.

In terms of the typography the masthead has covered 1/8 of the page which follows conventions, and the two words of her name are in different colours to make it stand out more, I would also say the text is more feminine as its curvy. The other text is of a normal font and is black which stands out against the white background. And at the start they have Put a massive S at the start of the text in red to make it stand out and it also makes the title.

On the main image on this double page spread, its just a up close studio shot of emmas head and cover the whole of the left side of the page, she looks confident and intelligent. They also used three images going down the right side of the right page and a red lipstick stain on the 2nd picture to match the writing so it fits in with the text.

The colour palette is, white black and red. these colours all stand out against each other. The colour red represents strength and power so it links back witch the story on the page and the model.

In terms of semiotics I think the right vocabulary has been used for the audience, due to it being a fashion magazine, and thats what the audience would be interested in.
