Legal restraints

Magazines normally have two regulatory bodies which minister the contents of a magazine meaning you have to be careful when publishing it. The two bodies have different jobs of what they must regulate an these are ASA and PCC.

The ASA make sure the adverts used in the magazine suit the audience and fit the purpose of the audience.

The PCC manages what the magazine actually publishes and check to see if it's content is suitable for the target audience. They also set regulations and codes for the editors and publishers to follow. These regulations includes 'accuracy' to make sure the content and images are true and not made up. Another rule is 'opportunity to reply' so that the content of the stories must include both sides to a story to not show a one sided story to a reader. The other rule is 'privacy' so that they have permission to publish the content and images of the person involved.
This online article explains about The News of the World phone hacking example and shows what happens when you don't follow the codes and regulations.
